About Jean-Philippe Demaël
A graduate of École Polytechnique and an engineer with the *Corps des Mines*, Jean-Philippe Demaël served as Managing Director and subsequently Chairman of the Executive Board of Somfy between 2008 and 2016. Now 57, he began his career in the civil service—working at the DRIRE (Regional Directorate for Industry, Research and the Environment)—before becoming Chief of Staff to the Director General for Industry. From 1998 to 2008, he worked for the Usinor Sacilor Group (which became ArcelorMittal), notably serving as Managing Director of the Automotive Stainless Europe division and later as CEO of Acesita (Aperam Brazil). He is the founding chairman of Horizons Altitude (a strategy consulting firm), Double Mixte (a company specializing in career transitions and corporate placement for elite athletes), and Progress Associés (a recruitment firm). In 2023, he joined the Supervisory Board of PRECIA; he also chairs the company’s Industry and CSR Committee.
